Approach
Create a basic character outline through one of the Character Creation approaches. Then go to Sculpt Mode and perform these setup steps:
- Click the Brush menu and check "Front Faces Only"
- Turn on X mirroring (if so desired)
- Use R to visually set the remesh size, or click the Remesh menu to set it there
To perform sculpting:
- Select the brush you want, then use F to adjust the radius and Shift-F to adjust the strength
- Zoom and rotate to the appropriate scale and location
- Apply the tool to your mesh
- Periodically use Control-R to remesh (or use a Retopology add-on)
- Repeat
Frequently Used Brushes
- Draw (D)
- Grab (G)
- Clay Strips
- Crease Polish
Techniques
- To create eye sockets, you can invert Clay Strip to make gaps.
- To create a nose, the Snake Hook can be used. Then use Grab to adjust.
- The mouth can be made with a Crease brush, drawing a sort of mild M shape.
- Use Clay Strips to add bulbous shapes, like chin definition.
